On Dec 6th, it's a trip to Deaconess Hospital and on the 7th, the band entertains Glenn O Swing!

The band traveled to Bourbon County on Oct. 22 for the KMEA Quarterfinals. They finished 9th on the day and had a score of 67.4. This is the highest score and placement for the Holmes Marching Band in the KMEA Quarterfinals since 2002.

In the early summer of 2011, a band director and his resilient students began a journey that would last nearly five months. There would be sweat, tears, laughs and determination. A determination that carried on through the sweltering heat of band camp to the chilly fall mornings of band competitions. Of course they would often be the underdogs. They would often find themselves competing with bigger and more experienced bands. Yet their pride, resolve and focus would carry them to uncharted territory. With each performance, the improvements could be seen and heard as they traveled on from Beechwood to Bourbon County. Every week brought a new challenge and the band found a way to march on and continue the proud tradition that is Holmes High School Marching Band.

BAND JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!

The band traveled to South Laurel on Sat and walked away with
a 3rd place finish in Class AAA and 9th overall. Percussion came in 6th overall. Their final score was a 64.825!

Next up is quarterfinals @ Bourbon County!

Rehearse-A-Thon This Friday!

The times for the Rehearse-A-Thon for THIS FRIDAY Oct. 14, 2011 have changed to 12:00pm – 8:00pm.

The Rehearse-A-Thon will help students raise money for items needed the rest of marching season including the KMEA Quarterfinals at Bourbon County.

Saturday morning brought sunny skies as the band headed once again to Clay County High School for some last minute practice. By late afternoon it was showtime and once again the band continued its rise jumping 12 points and finishing third in 3A!

The weather outside is frightful, but Holmes Band is so delightful! The band brought some holiday cheer to MainStrasse in Covington on Saturday before braving the rain and cold and heading out to New Richmond OH to march in the Christmas parade.

Time for drills, sectionals, marching, more drills, more sectionals, and of course more marching. This year's show is entitled "The Journey of Man". Remember...light clothes, water (lots of water) and don't forget the smile!
